After School Programs

TOP offers multi-tiered After School Programs in area elementary and middle schools. Participants receive two hours of academic and social enrichment three to five days a week. Programs offer academic remediation, homework assistance, life skill lessons, mentoring, behavioral intervention, extracurricular activities, and a snack. Our program works to increase the school year attendance of our program participants.  Families also receive ongoing case management services from a Program Coordinator.


Participating schools include Buhl Elementary, Collins Riverside Middle, Davis Emerson Middle, Englewood Elementary, Flatwoods Elementary, Holt Elementary, Matthews Elementary, and Maxwell Elementary.  Bus transportation is provided for After School and Summer Academy Programs.

Summer Academy Programs


TOP offers multi-tiered Summer Academy programs in area elementary and middle schools. Participants receive four hours of academic and social enrichment for a total of 4 weeks/20 days in June. Programs offer academic remediation, life skill lessons, mentoring, enrichment activities, field trips, transportation to and from academies, breakfast, and lunch. The programs are designed to provide a safe, structured environment and to promote academic retention and improvement, reduce behavioral problems, and improve self-esteem.



Tuscaloosa’s Promise


Tuscaloosa's Promise is an initiative designed to ensure that all children have five basic promises fulfilled: 1) a safe place after school, 2) a caring adult, 3) a healthy start, 4) the opportunity to give back, and 5) an effective education. Tuscaloosa’s Promise encourages all disciplines and community partners to become involved in these targeted areas to help support the success of children.
