
Tuscaloosa's One Place offers these programs for adults to continue their education or develop marketable skills.
Adult GED Program
GED course of study and materials are designed specifically to prepare adult learners to pass the test and earn their high school equivalency diploma.
The GED test covers five subject areas:
- Writing
- Reading
- Social Studies
- Science
- Mathematics
Classes are offered onsite at Tuscaloosa’s One Place through Shelton State Community College. To become a student, you must sign-up with Shelton State Community College, by calling 205-391-2662. Classes run Monday through Thursday, 9am to Noon. You must attend an orientation session before beginning classes. For more information about Shelton State Community College, please click here.
Career Development Classes
A four week class designed to help consumers find and retain gainful employment. Opportunities for employment are shared with participants, including placing applications in the community or online. Driver’s Education is available to eligible participants as a component of the class!
The program is designed to strengthen participants in the following areas:
- Resume Writing
- Work Ethics
- Interviewing Skills
- Barriers to Successful Employment
Classes are held Monday - Friday, from 8:30AM - 3:30PM onsite at Tuscaloosa's One Place. Classes are offered without cost to the participant. Contact Brenda Cephus or Arkeisha Thomas at 205-462-1000 to enroll in these classes.
